My name is Corliss Kin I Sio (to clarify, “Kin I” is my legal first name, “Sio” is my last name and “Corliss” is my aka). I was born in Macau, a former Portuguese colony in China. I spent a memorable 11 years there before immigrating to San Francisco with my family. I went to UCLA for college, where I almost finished a B.A. in Economics before finding my true passion in Geology. I happily graduated with a B.S. in Geology and went on to the University of Chicago for a Ph.D. in Geophysical Sciences. After graduating, I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the the Carnegie Geophysical Laboratory, followed by a postdoctoral research position at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. In 2019, I was promoted to a Research Scientist position at the same institution. Starting July 2021, I will be an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Toronto.
During my spare time, I like to play badminton, hike, sail, draw, enjoy movies and concerts.
